The Omni Future Almanac was published in 1982 —Now, when this article appeared in Omni, we were in the midst of double digit inflation. So, predictions were made about what things would cost in the year 2010. the numbers must have really scared a lot of people. Check out these 2010 price predictions from the year 1982.

Omni ceased publication in 1995. Well before the price of a magazine reached the predicted $30.00 price.

I'm not real sure what formula they used to come up with these prices, but here we go

1 lb. of Hamburger Meat...$22.75

Head of Lettuce................$5.00

Dozen Eggs......................$18.00

Magazine .........................$30.00

Movie Ticket.......................$33.00

Hotel Room........................$1,200.00

Man's Haircut.....................$40.00

Average Compact Car..........$70,000

Pound of Coffee...................$25.00

Well, just like the flying cars and other amazing things that were supposed to happen by now, these prices didn't materialize. Still, it's always interesting to look back and see what people thought life would be like in our present time.

I'm sure that 30 years from now, people will be talking about predictions we made about the future. No doubt, they'll think we were all quite naive. .
