(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - A Louisiana has been arrested and accused of stealing thousands from a youth football organization in her parish.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office say the woman stole $42,202.40 from the South Louisiana Youth Football Association.

Heather Hinton, 43, has been charged with illegal transmission of monetary funds, bank fraud, and theft over $25,000.

She was the treasurer of a local affiliate group of the South Louisiana Youth Football Association at the time of the alleged offenses, according to investigators.

Investigators claim that Hinton used the money to pay for personal costs via gift cards, ATM transactions, and mobile app purchases. She confessed to stealing the money after turning herself in, they claimed.

She has been booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
