In case you haven't noticed, I'm sort of a music junkie. Ever since I can remember, I've been obsessed with music. I've owned record players, boomboxes, towers and everything in between. I'm obsessed with music and want to listen to it in the best way possible.

Today, I have a state of the art sound system with top of the line speakers, turntable...the whole thing. Yes, I'm a vinyl snob. It scientifically sounds better. If you're interested in the science of sound, you can read more here.

But, of all the musical devices and ways to listen throughout history, why are we resurrecting cassette tapes? It makes literally NO SENSE. But, for whatever reason, bands and labels are releasing their music on cassette again. And I just don't get it!

Again, I could run through the science of why vinyl records sound better than digitally formatted music. That I get. But there is absolutely no benefit what so ever to cassette tapes. The quality is subpar, the tape's integrity degrades quickly, they easily malfunction...there's nothing positive to be said about cassettes. It was literally a transitional media form to get us from analog vinyl records to digital compact discs.

I believe this cassette trend will (hopefully) die off quickly. Hipsters (even though people love to hate them) can revive some pretty cool stuff. Cassettes, however, are something that should have been left in the past.
