Two McNeese Basketball Players To Be Awarded ‘Smalls Town Heroes’

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA: Two McNeese basketball players were honored today with an award for their community involvement in SWLA.

Smalls Sliders is coming to Lake Charles, and they had a ceremony today for their "can drop" where they recognized Antavion Collum and Christian Shumate as "Smalls Town Heroes" for their work in the SWLA community.

Antavion is inspiring the next generation of leaders through his volunteer work as a basketball coach at summer camps and tournaments, partnering with Toys for Tots and regularly supporting Mid-South Food Bank. Christian connects with the SWLA community through jersey signings, mentoring younger children and participating in summer camps. During the holiday season, he also helps with Christmas shopping for underprivileged children.
