Time to Enter Mardi Gras Parades
If you want to be in the Mardi Gras Parades ... now is the time to get your entry in. Here are all the details.
Entries are now being accepted for the Merchants’ Parade, Children’s Parade, Lighted Boat Parade, Krewe of Omega Parade and the Motorcycles, Hot Rods and Classics Parade.
The Merchants’ Parade is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. The 47th annual Krewe of Omega Parade will take place Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. The Children’s Parade will roll at 3:30 p.m. and the Lighted Boat Parade will sail at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10. The Motorcycles, Hot Rods and Classics Parade will take place at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The Merchants’, Children’s and Motorcycles, Hot Rods and Classics Parades will depart Bord du Lac Drive at the Lake Charles Civic Center and veer left onto Mill Street. Revelers will then turn right onto Ryan Street from Mill Street. The convoys will continue south down Ryan Street to the parades’ end at Sale Road.
The Krewe of Omega Parade will start at the Lake Charles Civic Center and go to Broad Street, continuing east on Broad Street to Enterprise. The floats will turn left on Enterprise to Mill Street and take a left on Mill Street back to the Lake Charles Civic Center.
The cost to enter the Merchants’ and Children’s Parades is $40 per float/vehicle, per parade. The Omega Parade costs $10 for floats and trailers, $5 for cars and marching groups are free. The cost to enter the Motorcycles, Hot Rods and Classic Parade is $5 per motorcycle and $10 per hot rod or classic. Forms and entry fees must be received by the day of the parade.
The public is invited to watch several other parades taking place during the Carnival season. The Krewe of Barkus Parade will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. And the grand finale, the Krewe of Krewes Parade, will be held on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m.
