The Worst Movies Ever Made
There are plenty of films out there that people will consider "bad". Most of the time this is just a matter of opinion, but sometimes a movie will come out that is so poor in quality, production, content, and acting that we can all agree that it stinks! I've compiled a list of such films by decade, starting with the 1930s, and even that far back, we have some real stinkers.
"Reefer Madness" (1936)
We as a society have learned a lot about marijuana over the years, but it was pretty obvious in this film that in 1936, the knowledge was limited. With it's jumpy edits and, frankly misinformed content makes this one a classic stinker!
"The Babe Ruth Story" (1948)
"The Great Bambino", "The Colossus of Clout", "The King of Crash". Despite the amazing nicknames, Babe Ruth's first biopic was an absolute mess from beginning to end.
"Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959)
This is writer/director Ed Wood's masterpiece, and that speaks volumes about his other movies. Ed was very good at making movies with ridiculous plots for next to no money. Plan 9 is no different. The star of the movie (Bela Lugosi) died halfway through production, and Wood replaced the seasoned actor with his dentist.
"The Beast of Yucca Flats" (1961)
Actor and professional wrestler Tor Johnson, landed this role after his fine performance in Plan 9. A scientist ends up radiated by an atomic blast and is turned in to a monster. Watching this movie is like a fever dream. All dialogue in the movie was recorded post-production, and rarely lines up with what you're seeing on the screen. Another all-around classic port-o-let of a film.
"The Swarm" (1978)
Lots of horrid films came out in the 70s. The Swarm is basically Alfred Hitchcock's "Birds", but instead of birds, it's bees. That is really all I have.
"Mac & Me" (1988)
An E.T. ripoff movie and an hour-and-a-half long McDonalds commercial. I personally hadn't seen quite as much blatant product advertisement since, well... E.T.
"Troll 2" (1990)
Don't bother watching the first Troll movie. This "sequel" has nothing to do with the original. The acting in this dung-heap of a film is easily some of the worst ever. Do yourself a favor and find a clip on Youtube. It's much worse than you could even imagine.
These movies, though terrible have some quirky charm to them. The next project won't be as nice. The next project will be "The Worst Movies of the 2000s". The 2000s is a burning city-dump of horrible content with no redeeming qualities. Stay tuned!
