CPSO Holding Seat Belt Checks and DWI Checkpoints Saturday
As we are going into a voting weekend, there may be a lot of celebrating as we have the potential of having seats changing from City Council to the Mayor's Office. But you need to be aware, as we have been notified there will be DWI Checkpoints and seat belt checkpoints tomorrow.
The checkpoints are strictly for targeting individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. There is hope that being forewarned about the checkpoints will potentially make drivers a little bit more hesitant to drink and drive or be under any negative influence this weekend. There is also a major call for every driver to make sure they are wearing their seat belts. This has been proven to assist with saving lives for those involved in car accidents.
This checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. There are no particular times or locations given, but you are cautioned to be careful and alert. Please wear your seat belt and if you are planning on going out and having a socially good time, please have a designated driver with you. This could help keep you safe and out of harm's way.
