It’s taken producer Peter Newman over a decade to bring the sad final months of Janis Joplin‘s life to the big screen, but now it seems he’ll get his chance. Deadline announced today that ‘Joplin,’ a film focused on the singer’s last six months, will begin filming early next year and star Tony Award winning actress Nina Arianda.

Janis Joplin is already a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and now the late singer is getting her due in Hollywood. She’s been named as one the inductees into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The forthcoming Janis Joplin rarities collection The Pearl Sessions will be available this Tuesday, April 17 and will include a previously unreleased alternate take of “Move Over.”
