At one time, John Lennon and Harry Nilsson were the best of friends and there are quite a few stories of some of their drunken high jinx.
The letter, penned by John, that is currently on the auction block, seems to indicate that Lennon was growing a bit tired of said high jinx and he dashed off a letter to his friend Phil Spector.
My brother called to ask me how far I was from Midland, Texas. I ask him why and he told me he had bid on an old police car in Midland and he might need someone to pick it up fr him.
