Mother Nature has already dipped her hands into our Mardi Gras plans and the threat of inclement weather has forced cancellation of a Mardi Gras Parade that was set for Thursday in the City of Sulphur to be canceled.

Parade organizers made this announcement yesterday on the City of Sulphur Facebook page.

While I certainly hate to see a good time go by the wayside but I do applaud organizers for taking a proactive step for the safety of everyone. Unfortunately, the Sulphur Parade may not be the only Mardi Gras Parade or celebration that has to cancel or postpone because of the threat of showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.

The National Weather Service office in Lake Charles does have a significant threat of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast not only for today but for Thursday as well. The rain chances do diminish just a bit for the Friday and Saturday but Sunday could see another significant threat of rain and storms in the area.

The outlook for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras day calls for cloudy skies but windy and much cooler. Look for high temperatures on Fat Tuesday to be in the middle 50-degree range in the afternoon.
