‘SNL’ Taps ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Star Jim Parsons as First March Host
We haven't heard much from 'SNL' since Melissa McCarthy hosted the pre-Super Bowl installment on February 1, but given NBC's coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics, late night took an understandable back seat. Now, with the long-running sketch comedy series due to return on March 1, 'The Big Bang Theory' Emmy winner Jim Parsons will make his hosting debut!
Parsons' first hosting appearance will hit the 'SNL' stage with the March 1 installment, which will return Beck to Studio 8H for the first time since 2006, wherein the alterna-folk singer played opposite 'House' star Hugh Laurie. The March 1 installment will also presumably see head writer Colin Jost in his first 'Weekend Update' appearance opposite Cecily Strong, following Seth Meyers' departure from the program for 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.'
In addition to his Emmy-winning role as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on CBS monster-hit 'The Big Bang Theory,' Parsons will next be seen in HBO's Ryan Murphy-directed original film adaptation of 'The Normal Heart' play, alongside such other Hollywood stars as Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts and Taylor Kitsch. The film is scheduled to debut this spring.
Definitely an interesting choice to kick off 'SNL''s March return, but what do you think? Is Jim Parsons up to the task of hosting 'SNL'? Check out a 'Big Bang Theory' highlight below, and give us your thoughts beneath!
