Saints Superdome Play By Play Announcer Retires [VIDEO]
If you have ever been to a Saints home game you have heard the voice of Jerry Romig. You will hear his voice no longer as he announced his retirement . His last game will be Friday's per-season game against the Oakland Raiders. The position will be handed down to his son Mark.
Romig never missed a game since taking over in the Saints third season. Only two other people have ever held the job (Jack Dolan and Buddy Diliberto.) If you ever attended a Saints game in the dome you may remember the way Romig seemed to say "tickle" instead of tackle and the way he said "Foy-st Down Saints." He had his own unique style and his enthusiasm reflected the fan's. His health was a determining factor in his retirement. Romig is 82 years old. The fans will miss him.
