For the second time in 15 hours, the New Orleans Saints moved up in the 2019 NFL Draft to select a player they coveted.

Sitting with the 116th pick in the 4th round, the Saints traded it, along with the 168th pick (5th round) to the New York Jets to move up to the third pick of the 4th round (105) to select safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson out of Florida.

The All-SEC performer declared for the draft after 3 years with the Gators, where he procured nine interceptions, three INT returns for touchdowns, 12 pass breakups, 161 total tackles, 15.5 tackles-for-loss and four sacks in 37 games played.

At 6'0, 208 pounds, he should compete for a role on special teams while backing up Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams.

Gardner-Johnson says he can play free or strong safety.
