Robbery Suspects Thwarted by Accidental Shooting
Gun safety is important even when you are using a gun illegally. it seems that a couple of Lake Charles men, Walter Williams and Dontae Scott were in the midst of a home invasion and robbery of a home on Church Street, but when it came time to make a hasty retreat from the scene of the crime, things went, as they say in England, "all pear shaped." It seems that gun safety was not the first thing on their minds.
Everything started out alright for the pair. They entered the home and demanded whatever they were there to steal, but their getaway was not exactly perfect. The victims of the home invasion told police that they heard a gunshot as the pair beat a hasty retreat. It turns out that Williams gun accidentally discharged and the bullet struck Scott in the abdomen.
The authorities arrived on the scene, but in the midst of their investigation, they were informed that a local hospital had a gunshot victim in the emergency room. To absolutely no one's surprise, it turn out to be one of the pair that invaded the home.
Well, one thing lead to another and, the next thing you know, Williams is arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Meanwhile, his unlucky partner, Scott is recovering in the hospital and is said to be in stable condition. When he is released from the hospital, authorities say they have another room waiting for him with three hots and a cot.
