If you are regular user of the Prien Lake Park boat launch near the 210 bridge, you will have to find a new place to launch your vessel.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) announced yesterday that the Prien Lake Park boat launch will close this Monday, March 5th, 2018 and will be closed approximately one year.

Not only will the launch be closed for construction but also the park’s North and South parking lots will be closed.

According to Laura Heller with the CPPJ, construction includes:

The removal of the existing boat launch, entrance and driveway and the construction of a new and improved boat launch, a new concrete entrance and driveway, a new floating boat dock, new composite boardwalks, new asphalt parking areas and improved drainage.

The Police Jury reps did remind us to pass along that the I-210 and Calcasieu Point boat launches are close by and they encourage citizens who want to access the waterways to use them during the construction period.
