It had to be really frustrating for police officers yesterday in Lake Charles. The cops were searching for Gilbert Jackson III in connection with a shooting in the 2100 block of Winterhalter Street and then fled to a relative's home located on White Street. Police surrounded the house in question for 4 hours only to later discover that the house was unoccupied. Not only was the suspect not in the house, Jackson wasn't even in Lake Charles.

Several rounds of tear gas were fired into a home at 324 White Street where authorities believe a suspect barricaded himself in after a disturbance between him and a woman. The woman who was shot, whose name has not yet been released, is currently at a local hospital. According to authorities, she's in stable condition.

After several hours, investigators discovered there was no one in the home - after receiving a call from the Westlake Police Department. The call from the Westlake PD informed the officers surrounding the house that the suspect had turned himself earlier to Westlake Police.

Jackson, 26, is being charged with attempted second-degree murder. His bond was set at $1 million. The case is, of course, still under investigation.
