Brandon Valyan (pictured) allegedly robbed or tried to rob several area businesses before hiding in his residence on Enterprise Blvd. It was there that the suspect engaged police in a standoff.

From the Official Lake Charles Police Department Release:

On November 3, 2014 at approximately 10:44 a.m. Lake Charles Police Corporals George Miller and Mayo Romero (also members of the US Marshal Service Fugitive Taskforce),  located Brandon Valyan at his residence, 712 Enterprise Boulevard, Lake Charles, LA. Valyan refused to come out or communicate with Lake Charles Police Officers. The residence was then surrounded by the Lake Charles Police SWAT Team Members and Patrol Officers. The immediate area around the residence was sealed and evacuated for the safety of the community as the investigation revealed that he possibly had a firearm.  Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes into the standoff, Valyan was talked out of the residence by a Lake Charles Police Department Crisis Negotiator, Captain David Anders. Valyan walked out of the residence and surrendered to members of the SWAT team without incident or injury.

 

Here's the suspects alleged trail of robberies:

On October 6, 2014 at approximately 1:15 a.m., police believe Brandon Valyan entered the Shell Station at 3400 Enterprise Boulevard and stole two cartons of cigarettes before fleeing the store.

On October 13, 2014 at approximately 12:45 a.m., Police believe Valyan robbed the Shell Station at 3400 Enterprise Boulevard of several cartons of cigarettes.

On October 14, 2014 police believe Valyan attempted to rob another store of several cartons of cigarettes but was unsuccessful.

Guy must really like to smoke.
