New Orleans Port, Cruise Terminal Hosts Terror Attack Drill
As a person who has been blessed to travel quite extensively over the past several decades, I have seen a lot of security scenarios. One that comes to mind particularly is the episode where my family and I entered Heathrow Airport in London flanked on either side by British Soldiers carry automatic weapons and not in a jovial mood.
That particular instance was in response to a very real terrorist threat. Travelers who might find themselves in the New Orleans Cruise Terminal on Wednesday might see a display of security of a different sort.
Fortunately, it's a drill.
The drill scheduled at the cruise terminal in the Port of New Orleans will take place on Wednesday between 7 am and 3 pm and will simulate a full-scale response to a full-scale attack.
Persons near the cruise terminal during the drill will likely notice a large presence of police and military vehicles. There will also be sirens and simulated gunfire included in the drill.
Personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, the FBI, State Police, the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Control, the Port of New Orleans, as well as local and parish police are scheduled to participate in this drill.
