Iowa Man Charged With Terrorism
Talking about hitting close to home. An Iowa man by the name of Joshua A. Daigle was stopped for a traffic violation in Lake Charles near Briarwood Drive in Lake Charles Friday afternoon and while talking to the suspect police noticed that he appeared to be very nervous. it was then that they spotted the reason for his sudden attack of nerves. There was, what appeared to be, a pipe bomb in the back of Daigle's truck.
Daigle admitted to building the pipe bomb but he says that he had no intent to use it. He also offered up that, by the way, he was under the influence of meth when he built it. Say it isn't so! You mean that stuff can make you do stupid things? I'm crushed to learn such a thing.
Louisiana State Police bomb technicians towed the truck, with the pipe bomb inside, to the Calcasieu Parish Training Academy, where a robot removed the bomb and detonated it at the firing range in the back of the academy.
Daigle was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and will be charged with manufacturing/possession of an explosive device and terrorizing.
Agencies that assisted the sheriff's office were the Louisiana State Police bomb technicians and Explosive Ordinance Disposal, the C.A.T. Task Force, Lake Charles Fire Department, FBI, and Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security.
