The Cowboys will bring their playoff hopes to Beaumont Saturday evening when they close out the regular season with the Lamar Cardinals. The Poke's playoff hopes got a boost on Thursday evening when Southeastern LA beat Nicholls State 21-17. That dropped the Colonels to 8-3 to end their season. Although Nicholls owns a win over McNeese, a Cowboys victory on Satruday would give them a 9-2 record.

The Cardinals have struggle this season, coming into the game at 2-8 and 1-7 in the Southland Conference. Lamar picked up their first conference win last week, 23-17 over Houston Baptist. McNeese is 8-2 and 6-2 in the SLC. The Cowboys beat Northwestern State 44-24 last Saturday. McNeese has won 2 straight over the Cards, and holds a 25-9-1 record in the all time series.

McNeese will enter the game with the nation's number 1 defense against the run, averaging just 59 yards per game. The offense averages 414 yards per game and the Cowboys outscore their opponents by 13 per contest. McNeese is plus 13 in takeaway margin. Lamar averages 391 yards and 24 points per game.
