The Cowboys will have their work cut out for them this Saturday when they travel to chilly Conway, Arkansas to face conference leader Central Arkansas. The Bears and Cowboys are both 6-1 overall and riding six game-winning streaks into the game. UCA began the season with a 55-19 loss at Kansas State, while the Cowboys lost at Nicholls State. Neither team has last since the opening weekend. UCA leads the Southland Conference with a 5-0 record, including a win over Sam Houston State. The Cowboys are 4-1. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s at game time.

The Cowboys are coming off an impressive 55-7 win over Incarnate Word last week. The Pokes continue to get it done on defense. Last week against the Cardinals, McNeese tied an NCAA and SLC record with four interception returns for a touchdown. The defense ranks 1st in the conference and 2nd in the FCS, allowing just 55 yards on the ground per game. Both teams average about 34 points per game on offense. The UCA offense picks up about 463 yards per game, while the Cowboys give up just 250 per contest. This will be the biggest test for the Defense With Attitude this season.

The series is tied 5-5, with the Bears winning 35-0 last year in Lake Charles. McNeese has won the last two games played on the purple and silver Estes Field at UCA. Central Arkansas is ranked 4th in both FCS polls, while the Cowboys are ranked 18/20.

Airtime is at 5:00pm, with kickoff at 6:05pm. You can hear the game on 92.9 The Lake and at 929thelake.com.
