Mandatory Evacuation Issued For Parts of Cameron Parish

The Cameron Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) has issued a mandatory evacuation for all areas south of the Intracoastal Water Way, effective at 6:00am Friday morning.

These areas include Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, Holly Beach, Cameron, Creole, Grand Chenier, and Big Lake.

The OEP is also advising residents of the parish who do not live in one of the listed areas to take precautions and evaluate their evacuation preparedness plans.

The evacuation order will be lifted once the OEP determines that the situation is safe and roadways are passable.
