There is one very weird thing about this area of disturbed weather. It is not very often that we see a storm system drifting eastward in the Bay of Campeche. Most eastward moving tropical weather happens in the North Atlantic; but not this time. Whenever a storm starts doing weird things I get a little apprehensive because it is then hard to forecast. The mean water temperature in the gulf at Eugene Island is 74 degrees for the month of October. That is a little cool for a hurricane; but this system has already been acting weird.  This tropical low in the Bay Of Campeche has become better organized and could become a tropical storm in the next day or so as it drifts eastward toward the Yucatan Peninsula. An Air Force plane is scheduled to investigate the storm this afternoon. According to NOAA  this system has a 50 percent chance of formation in the next five days. We will keep an eye on it for you.
