The indicator's goals are to raise public awareness of health issues and give first responders and law enforcement crucial information in an emergency. With the exception of voter ID cards and disability cards, it is available for every class of license or ID and is optional.

The seizure classification may be removed at any time upon the applicant's request, and it may be coupled with the autism and needs accommodations signs.

How Do I Apply For The Seizure Indicator On My Louisiana Driver's License?

A Medical Examiner's Certification of Seizures Disorder form filled out by a licensed medical or mental health practitioner permitted in Louisiana or any other U.S. state or territory must be submitted by applicants.

LA OMV will need an additional neurological medical assessment from the applicant's treating physician if the certifying professional reports that the applicant has not experienced seizures for six months.

According to Louisiana law, in order to keep one's driving privileges, a person must be seizure-free for at least six months.
