Local Production of Jesus Christ Superstar Set For Rosa Hart
Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic Andrew Lloyd musical. It's a big production and not an easy act to pull off but a group of Lake Charles actors, musicians and others will present this musical at the Rosa Hart Theatre next month.
The rock opera will be performed at the Rosa Hart Theatre at 7:30 on November 8th and 9th. According to a press release from Itinerant Theatre Jesus Christ Superstar is a retelling of the age-old tale expressed entirely in musical form. Jesus’ and Judas’ final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart. The professional 18-member cast and also the crew are drawn from the Lake Area.
The role of “Jesus” will be played by Gabi Fontenot, “Judas” by Tony James and “Mary Magdalene” by Hayley Smith. Bret Smithey is “Caiaphas”, Frank Cooper –“Annas”, Taylor Simon --“Simon”, John Paul Primeaux --“Peter”, Joshua Brown -- Pontius Pilate, and Bryan Trahan -- King Herod. Playing multiple roles in the ensemble are Bianca Augustine, Renata Barker, Ryan Domingue, Casey Doucet, Emily Looney, Randy Partin, Robin Prejean, Angela Reeves and Chad Reeves.
Ticket prices are $35, $25 and $20 and increase by five dollars ($5.00) if purchased day of show.
