Lake Charles resident Bob Richard noticed that services in the Lake Area were lacking for the homeless.  So he took matters into his own hands.

Maranda Whittington of KPLC reports that Richard saw the need, a year ago, to start a place were homeless individuals could get a hot shower and free hygiene items.

Thus the see for the "Beacon Center" was planted.

Fast forward a year and Richard is now ready to open up his vision to Lake Charles.

The Beacon Center will open its doors July 2nd behind the First Christian Church on 2nd Avenue and 17th Street.

Richard needs volunteers to help run the center.  Also, if you would like to support his vision, you can donate here.
