Moving forward, Louisiana private and "select" schools will be allowed to play their High School Football Championship games away from the Superdome in New Orleans.

The LHSAA principals voted today to give “select” schools the ability to play their championship games at a venue separate from public schools. But they did not vote on where their games must be played.

Teurlings Catholic Principal Mike Boyer says, depending on what the school with the highest seed decides, the title game could still be held at a big venue. Including some of the college football stadiums around the state. Louisiana Tech's Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, Tulane's Yulman Stadium, Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, or even Independence Stadium in Shreveport could all be options.

The fight likely isn't totally over yet though. LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine says the Association’s executive committee will still have to agree to the private school championship game locations, because it’s still an LHSAA event.

But the vote by the LHSAA principals doesn't just hit football around the state. The decision also impacts the title games for the sports of basketball, baseball and softball.
