Les Miles Out as Kansas Football Head Coach

Former LSU football coach, Les Miles, is now the former head football coach for the Kansas Jayhawks. Miles and the university parted ways yesterday, even though Miles still had three years left on his contract.

The reason for the split? Last week, LSU announced they had launched an investigation stemming from a 2013 internal investigation when Miles was accused inappropriate behavior toward female students.

The report also stated Miles allegedly contacted some of the students on Facebook and texted them, and that Miles even went so far as to meet them off campus alone and kissed at least one of them.

When this report came out last Friday, the University of Kansas immediately put Miles on administrative leave pending an investigation. Kansas Athletic Director Jeff Long then released a statement last night saying both the university and Miles had come to an agreement to mutually part ways.

Miles, who is 67 years old, didn't see much success during his time with the Kansas Jayhawks football program. He went 3-18 in the two seasons during his time as head coach. Miles and his team went without a win in 2020, finishing the football season at 0-9.

That is a stark contrast from his previous job at LSU, where he won the 2007 college football national championship and led the Tigers to the national championship in 2011 again, although they lost to Alabama.

Miles was fired by LSU in 2016 and didn't coach for three years before being hired by Kansas. With a looming investigation and no team to coach now, will this be the end of Les Miles's coaching career?  We will have to see.
