Federal Moratorium on Evictions Ends March 31

The federal eviction moratorium issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is set to end on March 31. There's no doubt abut it, the moratorium has helped millions of people and their families stay in their homes during most of the pandemic. Sadly, people are still struggling to make it. The moratorium itself sparked several lawsuits across the country, including Terkel v. CDC in Texas. On February 25, a Texas federal judge ruled the moratorium was unlawful under the U.S. Constitution. On February 27, the Biden administration immediately filed papers in court to appeal that decision. The CDC filed the moratorium order in September under President Donald Trump. One day after taking office, President Joe Biden, extended the order on January 21 for another two months.
