Latest NCIS Spinoff To Center On Louisiana, Gulf Coast
Crime & crawfish? CBS is hoping an "NCIS" spinoff set on the gulf coast will be a hit. The network has reportedly given the go ahead for a two episode pilot to air in the spring.
The NCIS New Orleans office will handle cases along the gulf coast from Pensacola to Mississippi, Louisiana and the Texas panhandle.
Advance publicity says, "New Orleans, with its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery is a magnet for military personnel on leave...And with fun, comes trouble. It is a natural backdrop for a unique character-driven spin-off."
Shooting will get underway in February.
"NCIS" is a spinoff from "JAG," debuting in 2003. If the New Orleans spinoff is picked up, it will be the series' second. "NCIS: Los Angeles" debuted in 2009. It's been renewed for a fifth season.
