Lake Charles Man Charged With Cruelty to Elderly Couple

I don't want to get sued for anything, but in my own personal, humble opinion, the guy in the picture doesn't look like the nicest guy in the world to begin with. I could be wrong about that, but the fact is that he has been arrested and charged with "cruelty to the infirmed."

The man's name is Carl Mark Slaven, 54, of Lake Charles and it is alleged that he kidnapped and beat two elderly family members so that he could take money from them. He has now been charged in the case with simple robbery and two counts of cruelty to the infirmed.

It is alleged that Slaven held a 91-year-old and an 83-year-old against their will overnight, breaking their phones and emergency alert necklaces. He then reportedly forced them to sign checks from their personal bank accounts.
