Historic Lake Charles Little Theatre Plans New Future After 100 Years
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - The Lake Charles Little Theatre (LCLT) has been a significant part of the art scene in SWLA for nearly 100 years.
Rosa Hart, the first cheerleader in the USA, founded the Lake Charles Little Theatre in 1926.

The theater company stopped running during the pandemic and then was damaged beyond repair during Hurricane Laura.
LCLT board member Theresa Needham told KPLC:
We have saved some pieces of the stage that we plan to, maybe do a plaque or something like that with it. Most of the things that were really cherished here are just beyond salvation.

Needham went on to say that the last five years has been a struggle for the LCLT. They've been holding their productions that the Southlake Theater for the last three years, but they're ready to have a real home of their own again.
Plans are underway to demolish the old LCLT building and construct a new one in the same location. Needham says the new building will be about the same size as the old theater.
On October 3, "The Odd Couple" will open the 99th season of the Lake Charles Little Theatre at the Southlake Theater.
