Jack Nicholson Might Be Robert Downey Jr.’s Father in ‘The Judge’
Is 'The Judge' the project that will see Jack Nicholson return to the big screen for the first time since 2010's 'How Do You Know'? Director David Dobkin is currently trying to get Nicholson to star as Robert Downey Jr.'s father in the upcoming drama.
It's been two years since Jack Nicholson graced the big screen in 'How Do You Know,' and before that, he hadn't starred in a film for three years with 2007's 'The Bucket List.' Nicholson has become very picky in his old age, and rightfully so -- the man's earned it. And we can't even recall the last time we saw his sunglasses holding it down at the Oscars. But we might be seeing Nicholson again very soon.
THR reports that director David Dobkin is seeking Nicholson for his latest film, 'The Judge,' starring and produced by Robert Downey Jr., in which the 'Iron Man' star will play a successful lawyer who goes home to his small town (aren't they all?) for his mother's funeral, only to find out that his father has been suffering from Alzheimer's and is suspected of killing his mother. The big shot attorney will have to defend his father in a case that will inevitably change his life, making him a better person, and so on -- you know how these things go.
Nicholson notoriously passed on playing the part of mobster Frank Costello in Martin Scorsese's 'The Departed' several times before meetings with both Scorsese and star Leonardo DiCaprio changed his mind.
Jack Nicholson: America's favorite grumpy old grandpa. Sorry we're not sorry, Clint Eastwood.
