Louisiana Lottery Confirms $50,000 Win in Friday’s Drawing

Lady Luck has returned to Louisiana, at least it appears that way following Wednesday's Powerball drawing and last night's (Friday's) Mega Millions. In both of those multi-state lottery games Louisiana players reported a sizeable win. Those two big wins break a bit of "big-money" drought that Louisiana Lottery players have experienced for more than a month in both of those games.

In Wednesday's Powerball game a $50,000 winning ticket was sold in Louisiana. That big money winner's point of purchase was confirmed to be sold at Belle Chase Self Serve in Belle Chase, Louisiana. Incidentally, if you played Powerball in the Texas Lottery system there was a $1,000,000 winner sold for Wednesday's drawing in Houston. That ticket was sold at Mr. Express on Bingle Road.

The next Powerball drawing will be tonight, Saturday March 16, 2024. The game's estimated top prize will be $600 million. Powerball has not had a jackpot winner in its past 32 drawings. The last time the game's top prize was won was on January 3rd of this year. The $600,000 prize is the annuitize amount, the lump sum payout for tonight's Powerball would be $285.9 million if you chose to accept the prize that way.

$50,000 Winner Sold in Louisiana For Friday's Mega Millions Drawing

The Mega Millions game has never produced a jackpot winner in Louisiana. The state's Mega Millions players have won some big money prizes but no ticket sold in Louisiana has ever claimed that game's top prize. The current Mega Millions estimated annuitized jackpot is $875 million. The lump sum payout for a win on Tuesday night would be an estimated $413.8 million.

The game's largest payout from last night was a $1,000,000 Match 5 winner that was sold in New York. The Texas Lottery did have several big money tickets sold for Mega Millions across that lottery system's footprint. The largest prize won in Texas was $50,000. In fact, two tickets sold in Texas earned a prize of $50,000 while another three tickets claimed a prize of $10,000 in the Lone Star State.

The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that Mega Millions has not created a jackpot winner since December 12th of 2023. However, there was a $50,000 winner sold in Louisiana for last night's game. The Louisiana Lottery revealed that the winning Louisiana ticket was sold in La Place. The ticket was purchased at a Circle K store on Belle Terre Boulevard in La Place. The ticket matched four of the white balls, the Mega Ball, and they had opted in for the Megaplier option.

That will be tonight, March 16th, 2024 at 10 p.m. There will also be drawings in the Louisiana Lottery's Lotto Game. That game has a top prize of $800,000. There will also be a drawing in the Easy 5 game from the Louisiana Lottery. That game features a jackpot of $100,000 for players tonight.
