We really put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make the holidays perfect, don't we? We long so much to make Christmas like a Norman Rockwell. I hate to tell you this, but it can't be done. That's a shame because I know we try really hard to make the holidays just like we think it used to be.

Frankly, I think the biggest place we mess up the holidays is by trying so hard to make them perfect, but PR Newswire did a survey of their readers and they came up with 4 ways we mess up the holidays

A new survey just found the four most common things we screw up over the holidays.  And somehow, "my relationship" didn't make the list.

The four things we mess up are . . .

1.  Forgetting to buy batteries that kids need to play with their new toys.  It's 2016 and we still have to buy batteries? I should buy stock in Duracell!

2.  Forgetting to RSVP to parties. Forgetting to RSVP parties? Seriously? that's someone's big problem during the holidays? How lame

3.  Accidentally leaving someone off your holiday card list. - And it's ALWAYS someone you're going to be face to face with during the holidays!

4.  Burning Christmas dinner.  I'll bet this one happens all the time. My mom never burned Christmas dinner however, she always forgot about the rolls. Every single year I can remember, at some point during Christmas dinner, my mom would jump up and say, "Oh, damn. I forgot the rolls!" Said rolls would be burned, of course.

More than half the people they talked to said that every year they have to leave the house on Christmas day to go buy something they forgot.

Merry Christmas! Remember, it has to be perfect!
