The Louisiana State Police (LSP)  along with the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task for and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office have been very active over the past several years looking out for our kids. Coming up tomorrow in Deridder, the LSP will be conducting another of their special child safety seat inspections. Sgt. James Anderson, of the LSP tells us that the vast majority of child safety seats are not installed correctly. How about yours? Is your child's seat up to date and properly installed? You can find out Saturday morning .

The process only takes a few minutes and you can have the peace of mind in knowing that your child is as safe as possible while riding in the car. Sgt. Anderson tells us that free booster seats will be provided, but there are a few basic guidelines that must be followed.

Of course, the child who will be using the safety seat must be present. You will also need the car in which the safety seat is to be installed. Seems like a basic rule. Also, your child must weigh between 40 and 100 pounds and be less than 4'9" tall. The child in question must also be at least 4 years old. This special event is also limited to only one child seat per child.

The event is tomorrow (Saturday) at Green Chevrolet at 307 East First Street in DeRidder. It's a free event and gets underway at 10:00 a.m. and wraps up at 1:00 p.m.
