Just days after leading tropical forecasters announced a decrease in activity for the tropical season Mother Nature has kicked things up a notch. Two different weather systems are now being monitored for potential strengthening over the next five days. One of those systems shows very strong signs of becoming a tropical cyclone by the end of the weekend.

The system that is closest to the United States is a few hundred miles south of the island nation of Bermuda. The track forecast for this system suggests it will move toward the U.S. coastline before being swept off to the north and eventually out to sea over the next five days. Forecasters give this system a 40% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone. As of now the threat to any land mass appears to be minimal.

The second system is a little stronger and is anticipated to strengthen further over the next five days. Forecasters give this system a 70% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone before the weekend is done. Its currently located well east of the Lesser Antilles Islands.

While the system is expected to strengthen over the next few days, the long-range outlook shows conditions becoming unfavorable for further development before the weather system reaches the islands of the Lesser Antilles.
