Hurricane Laura left her mark on downtown Lafayette.

One of the most iconic buildings in the downtown district is picking up the pieces this morning after extreme winds from Hurricane Laura took out more than 10 large windows on the Wright-Roy building located at the corner of Jefferson and Vermillion.

Facebook user Tim Skinner shared the photo, along with photos of trees in the area that were taken out by wind from Laura that whipped through Lafayette in the middle of the night after the storm made landfall shortly after midnight.

More photos show some of the damage in other parts of downtown Lafayette but nothing that isn't repairable.

As always, take caution and be aware that downed trees can also mean downed powerlines and present dangerous situations in the aftermath of storms like Hurricane Laura.

Be safe and contact the proper local authorities if downed trees or floodwaters are threatening your home or property.
