You know what they say: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. Or small ones, according to new research, which found that working in groups can cause regularly smart people’s IQs to drop. In the study, people were matched based on their higher-than-average intelligence, then tasked with solving problems together. Most subjects performed worse when they were working with others than they did on their individual tests. Further, when people were aware that they were doing poorly, their scores suffered even more! So how does this translate to the real world? Basically, the stupider you feel, the stupider you’ll act. Sounds like a great argument against those boring meetings at work
