Deer Car Collisions Up in Louisiana
What happened 9,800 times in Louisiana last year? That's how many times there were collisions between motorist and deer.
According to State Farm spokesman Gary Stephenson that is an increase of about 540 from the previous year. That is a substantial increase. According to an article at WWL.com Stevenson said most of the accidents happen in early morning and late afternoon when people are making their commutes to work. Last year those deer/auto collisions caused about $38 million in damage. Motorist are urged to slow down near dusk and dawn and cautioned not to swerve to miss a deer.. This is the time of year when the deer are most active.
