McNeese will play their home opener Saturday against the Florida Tech Panthers. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. McNeese dropped their season opener at Nicholls State last Thursday, 37-35, while the Panthers began their season with a 44-0 win over Virginia Lynchburg.

Last week the Cowboys dominated the stats, including penalties. McNeese was flagged 13 times for 117 yards. Many came at inopportune times keeping Colonels drives alive and costing the Cowboys big plays, including a touchdown. QB James Tabary completed 25 passes for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns. WR Darious Crawley led the Pokes in rushing with 53 yards on an end around play. The Cowboys blocked 2 punts in the game.

Florida Tech had 327 total yards in their win led by QB Trent Chmelik. He completed 8 passes for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sekia Lindsay ran for 44 yards and a score. The Panthers also scored on a blocked FG and punt return.

Some other game notes: It is Military Appreciation night. McNeese will induct 5 new members into their Hall of Fame. Florida Tech is located in Melbourne, on Florida's east coast, and is in the projected path of hurricane Irma. The Panthers are a Div 2 program.
