McNeese celebrated their 76th homecoming with their best performance of the season, beating Houston Baptist 42-27. The Pokes moved to 4-4 on the year and 2-3 in Southland Conference play. HBU dropped to 4-4 and 1-3 in the SLC. McNeese lead 28-20 after a high scoring 1st half. The Cowboys led 42-20 late in the 4th till the Huskies score with just over two minutes left in the game.

The Cowboys got the job done on both sides of the football. On offense, QB Cody Orgeron had his best game going 24-31 for 303 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Orgeron also capped off the Cowboy scoring with a 69-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Justin Pratt had 100 yards rushing on 11 carries. Two Pokes had over 100 yards receiving. Trevor Begue had his first 100-yard game picking up 121 yards on nine catches and one TD. Cyron Sutton had 6 catches for 116 including a 69-yard catch and run for a TD. McNeese had 567 yards in total offense. Pratt and Elijah Mack each had one rushing touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys held the Huskies below their season average in points and yards per game. McNeese had one interception and one fumble recovery. On the fumble play, Jovan Burriss picked up the loose ball and went 11 yards for a touchdown. Burriss lead the team with 10 tackles. The Pokes also sacked HBU quarterback Bailey Zappe 4 times and batted down six passes. McNeese hald the ball for 35 minutes to 25 for HBU.

Next week the Cowboys travel to Nacadogches to meet the SFA Lumberjacks.
