Hall believes that this El Nino has a great possibility of setting up the Gulf States for a cold winter. He goes on to say that this El Nino is not following the typical patterns of a normal El Nino event.

Ryan says that usually an El Nino heats up only the Pacific Ocean, but this year the Atlantic Ocean is the hottest it's ever been.  He says that can and will fuel massive cold weather events in the winter all across the US including the Gulf Coast.

The whole video is very interesting and well worth a watch from the beginning, but he talks about the South at the 3:55 minute mark of the video.

Give us your best Jack Frost, I'll be here waiting on you. I'd much rather be cold than hot, so this is great news for me. I actually don't own a jacket because it doesn't get cold enough around here to warrant a purchase in my mind. However, if I have to buy one this winter, I will take that for the team.
