Latavius Murray played well for the Saints against the Vikings, and apparently, it was good enough to get the attention of the Denver Broncos.

Some Saints fans (including this one) were shocked when Tom Pelissero broke the news that Latavius Murray was signing with the Denver Broncos on Monday night (Oct. 3).

After losing their promising young running back Javante Williams for the season with a knee injury, Denver had a void to fill in their backfield and they were able to scoop Murray from the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

Murray, who went unsigned in the offseason after rushing for 501 yards and six touchdowns with the Ravens last season, got picked up by the Saints not long after the start of the regular season.

With Kamara being held out of the Saints' Week 4 matchup vs. Minnesota due to a rib injury, Murray was elevated from the practice squad and delivered a solid 57-yard rushing performance that included a touchdown that he fought for at the goal line.

If I'm being honest, Murray's team-best performance (with no fumbles) looked as good as any Saints running back has this season, including the guy named Kamara.

After the game, Murray told reporters he was just blessed to have the opportunity to show what he could still do in the NFL.

Just two weeks ago, (I was) sitting at home, uncertain about my NFL year career. And so, it just was a blessing to be out there honestly. Had a lot of fun and just wish we could have finished it off with a win.

With the abysmal performances that we've seen over the first four weeks of the season, Latavius Murray was actually a bright spot in a Saints offense that has struggled to get going let alone show any type of consistency.

Last night's report from Pelissero definitely left many wondering how the Saints could let a player like Murray get snatched away given his history and familiarity with the Saints' offense—especially coming off of a good performance in London vs. Minnesota.

The Saints didn't have much of a choice based on league rules, but some argued that they had plenty of opportunities to shore up Murray as a dependable part of their running back room.

The Saints still have four running backs on the active roster, but if I had to place my bets right now, most fans would much prefer Latavius Murray over half of the ball carriers on the active roster.

By the way, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, Dwayne Washington, and Tony Jones Jr. make up the Saints' backfield, so I'll let you decide which half.

Regardless of how we may feel as Saints fans, this is a major win for Murray and his family.

I highly doubt he even had a chance to open his suitcase in NOLA, but we're still sending the best of luck to Latavius as he packs his bags for Denver.
