The Lafayette Police have confirmed that the body discovered in Evangeline Parish on Tuesday is that of missing UL-Lafayette student Mickey Shunick.

It appears that  Brandon Scott Lavergne led law enforcement to the place where Shunik had been buried. Lavergne, who is also a suspect in another murder, was checked out of jail the day the body was found in Evangeline Parish. Shunick had been missing since May when Lavergne was arrested and charged with the murder of Mickey Shunick as well as the 1999 murder of Lisa Pate.



From Lafayette Police:

Investigators have identified the body discovered in Evangeline Parish as that of Michaela “Mickey” Shunick. There will be no further comment on the Shunick investigation at this time.
