Another Random Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust
The number one way to catch criminals these days seems to be the old reliable "random traffic stop." It's become an almost weekly occurrence along I-10. This week's random traffic stop winners are Gerald and Laquanda Brown of Independence. Their prize is three hots and a cot.
Gerald and Laquonda were traveling down I-10 when they were pulled over for a traffic violation. The officer who pulled them over, Cpl. Chad Booth, noticed that the occupants of the car seemed to be a bit nervous plus Booth added that the car smelled like pot. Well, there's your probable cause, so a search ensued and turned up 10 pounds of raw marijuana.
Instead of just getting a traffic ticket, the Browns were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and are being held on $25,000 bond each. Happy motoring, my friends.
