We were driving around Lake Charles yesterday when we noticed a building that once housed a Mexican restaurant in town now sits empty.

The restaurant we are talking about is Casa Ole which is located on Ryan Street in Lake Charles right next to the Albertson's parking lot entrance.  For as long as we can remember, Casa Ole has been at that location for years in Lake Charles.

When we stopped in the parking lot, we noticed that all the signs are gone.  The sign at the road has been taken down and so has the one that was located on the front of the building that was located on the left side.

The Mexican eatery once served fajitas, enchiladas, and quesadillas had now shut its doors in Lake Charles.  We did some research and found that the Casa Ole located at 1700 Ruth Street in Sulphur, Louisiana is still open.

So that makes us wonder if the building in Lake Charles received bad damage during the two hurricanes last year and the owners just decided to just not to reopen the restaurant in Lake Charles.

We are seeing more and more abandoned buildings in the Lake Charles area. It makes our heart hurt when we see that another Lake Charles business has closed its doors. Now that makes two empty buildings in the same location as right next to the old Casa Ole sits the old K-Mart building that also sits abandoned right now.

Our hope is that we will be able to recover soon and have stores and restaurants fill these empty locations.
