Boy does this video bring back some great memories of Christmas past. I was actually kind of surprised at how many of these toys I owned back when Santa payed his annual visit to our house.

Although I did get several of these toys over they years none of them were my favorites, but the video did make me think about some pf the great toys I got at Christmas.

To name just a few:

The TV show "Robin Hood" was one of my favorites when I was very small. The show was a BBC production and I would play Robin Hood for hours on end. One year Santa brought me a Robin Hood castle complete with figures of all the characters from the show.

I had a Robbie the Robot that would walk and talk. of course, to make him talk, there was a handle in the back that you had to turn and it played a tiny record of him saying, "Hello, I'm Robbie the Robot." Pales in comparison to today's robot toys, but it kept me entertained for hours on end.

The next toy is kind of hard to describe, but it was a fish. Inside the fish's mouth was a smaller fish, and when you pulled out the smaller fish and stretched out the wire connected to it and let it go, the big fish followed the wire and ate the little fish. I like to think that, symbolically, it prepared me for a career in radio.

My folks and my sister spoiled me rotten at Christmas but among the items I never got were:

An Etch-A-Sketch

A BB Gun

Slinky

and, of course, the one gift I wanted most: a pony. Considering I grew up in the middle of a city, I guess my parents showed good judgement there.

Watch this video and think about your all-time favorite Christmas toys.
