When I was a kid, one of our family vacation traditions was to stop at McDonald's very early in the morning and order a round of bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits for the road. Another great memory was shoveling my food in my mouth so I would have time to play in their playground while my parents still ate. Coincidently, that's also how I became deathly afraid of heights after I fell off the top of the slide at McDonald's in Westlake.

Even today, after a long and perhaps stressful day, nothing makes me feel better than my all-time favorite...a double quarter pounder with cheese. Also, you can't beat Mikey D's soft serve ice cream, when the machine is working of course.

It's weird to think about now, but yes, people used to be allowed to smoke in McDonald's. I remember as a kid thinking about how they were ruining my meal and might even have mustered up the courage a time or two to throw a mean mug their way.

Join me and let's hop in the DeLorean and travel all the way back to 1984 and see what's going on inside McDonald's during a very busy lunch service.
