I've lived in SWLA my whole life, and can count on one hand the number of times I've seen snow, ice-sickles, and other wintry weather wonders. Winter in SWLA usually means that during any given week you'll have 5 cold days, 1 really cold day, and 1 day warm enough to wear shorts and a tanktop...

I have a lot of respect for people who make their living predicting the weather. No one can make you look like a fool more that mother nature. That's why I almost hate to say this; but the words "Wintry mix and snow" are in our forecast again. It is once again accompanied by temperatures in the 20's.

Don Rivers I decided to stay in Lake Charles last night just in case I needed to get to work early this morning. That decision paid off as my phone rang before five am because our morning man on sister station Gator 99.5 could not cross the I-10 bridge to get to work. I get up, thrown on my clothes and start the adventure that was my ride to work

Here is how it works. One person sees it snowing and calls a friend or two. They then each call two or three. Before you know it the Snow Buddy Alert system or OBA has the entire city wade awake and running around like fools at three am.

With deteriorating weather conditions anticipated tonight and tomorrow, the Louisiana State Police has issued tips on how to handle driving if you have to get out in the weather tonight or tomorrow.

Most people think snow in Southwest Louisiana is a reason to go outside and enjoy this very rare occurrence. It is fun until you have to drive over roads that are covered in ice. That may be what we encounter tomorrow morning so the National Weather Service has issued a warning.

While we enjoyed our football games and beautiful weather... the storm was raging on the other side of the world. Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines as a Super Typhoon. The estimate is that 12,000 people are dead and the living are suffering. You can help.

If you noticed it being a little breezy this morning there is a good reason for that. Winds are expected to blow out of the Southwest at 20-30 mph all day today. We are looking at a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms today and now we have a Tornado Watch.

We now have a tropical storm in the  Gulf of Mexico. The winds have been clocked at sixty miles per hour. The question is what will this storm do next?

We have been watching this area of low pressure for a few days as it moved through the Caribbean Sea. NOAA is now predicting it will enter the Gulf of Mexico later this week.

We are all waiting for the arrival of fall. We had a little taste of it last week.  One good thing about cooler weather is that it usually signals the end of hurricane season. Well we jumped back up into the 90's and just to let us know the season is not over yet ... we have a new low pressure system to watch.

This low is not the real story. The real story is that it just popped up in the Gulf. Sure it is late in the season; but this proves it is not time to let our guard down.
